WHAT IS BANANA POWDER?
Those of you who are avid make up fans will have probably heard of it or used it before. To explain, banana powder is a setting powder usually used to set concealer under the eyes and highlight the face. If you hadn’t guessed already, it has a yellow hue which is used to brighten, correct redness and give you a more illuminated look.
Since Kim Kardashian’s contour and highlight technique went viral a few years back, banana powder has become increasingly popular. It can be used on pretty much all skin tones and leaves a matte finish, so it’s perfect if, like me, you suffer from an oily t-zone!

Banana Powder- BOOTS
One of the most popular banana powders used is by Ben Nye and comes in a loose powder form, which you can buy online ( when it is in stock that is!!). However, I’ve found a dupe from NYX that will do a similar job, at a fraction of the price and can also be found on the high street.
NYX HD Finishing powder comes in a compact and so saves you from the disastrous effects of loose powder finding their way onto everything ( especially if you’re an all black outfit kinda girl!).
It’s silky in texture, leaving skin looking smooth and brightened with a velvet like finish. Apply with a small fluffy brush or beauty blender to set under eye concealer and also highlight down the bridge of the nose, middle of the forehead and chin.
A little tip from me, when applying concealer and setting powder apply in a triangular shape, as shown to the right, as this helps to brighten and lift the entire eye area!
I’ve been using this powder for a few weeks now and I can definitely recommend it. It helps to increase longevity of my makeup throughout the day, brightens and leaves a HD like finish which makes skin look flawless! To be honest, for £5.50 you just can’t go wrong!
